Follow the Light

From the events of the past week that made national news (i.e. Charlie Kirk, Iryna Zarutska, Denver, CO school shooting) to an event, involving my niece, that hits very close to home, my heart is left feeling very heavy. If you profess to be a follower of Christ, I think we all were reminded of the spiritual battle between good and evil that takes place all around us. I cannot even begin to comprehend the hate and just plain darkness that exists in this world. John 3:19 (CSB) says, "This is the judgement: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil." We were reminded, by our own grieving souls, how God must grieve over His creation on a daily basis.

I'm not going to go into detail, expressing my opinion and I don't want to make this blog very long because I feel like everyone is out there trying to make their voice heard. The only voice I want you to hear is the one of Jesus Christ. In John 8:12 (CSB), "Jesus spoke to them again: 'I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.'" Jesus is truly our only source of hope, and I don't know how someone who doesn't believe in God navigates their way through life. What is the point of all of this without heaven being the goal as our final destination?

This week has caused me to do a lot of reflection. Those of us that profess to be followers of God are called to be the light of the world, "For you were once darkness but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light." Ephesians 5:8 (CSB) and we are not meant to hide that light, "No one lights a lamp and puts it in the cellar or under a basket, but on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see its light." Luke 11:33 (CSB) I pray that I and all of my God-following friends have a renewed mission to shine our lights and share the hope that we have in order to make new disciples. God in His mercy is giving us all plenty of time to turn our hearts toward Him. "The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 (CSB) It is my prayer that I am faithful to the end. As always, if you have questions, let's talk!
